Ethereum is the radio.

Live audio and tiny video broadcast through Ethereum’s mempool.Sent as pending transactions on the Hoodi testnet. Listening needs no wallet.

The mempool

Where transactions wait.
Where Patio lives.

About every 12 seconds, Hoodi makes a block. Patio streams from the pending pool between blocks.

How it works

Transactions become packets.

  1. 1

    Capture

Mic or camera becomes a tiny WebM stream.

  2. 2

    Sign

A temporary wallet signs every slice.

  3. 3

    Broadcast

    Packets wait in the mempool.

  4. 4

    Listen

    Listeners rebuild the stream.

  5. 5

    Close

    Remaining ETH can return.

One packet

Every second of sound is a transaction.

Why bother

A signal nobody hosts.

Hard to censor

No stream server to take down.

Hard to spoof

Every packet is signed by the broadcaster.

A link is the frequency

Share the URL. That's the whole setup.

Off the air

Stations get shut down.
Patio has no station.

Patio can't beat a full internet blackout. It helps when a platform, a station or a publisher is the thing being shut down.

Est. 2024

Born at a hackathon. Back on air.

About

About Patio.

Patio is back to explore browser-native broadcasting with modern Ethereum tooling. This version was rebuilt by victorxva.

The original concept belongs to ariutokintumi. Antoine De Vuyst, Yongjin Chong and myself are credited for our work on the ETHDenver 2024 hackathon prototype.

Disclaimer

Read this first.

Patio is an experimental research project exploring censorship-resistant live media transport through Ethereum's public mempool. It is not a production communications service, an emergency channel, or a guarantee of availability, privacy, permanence, or anonymity.

Patio uses the Hoodi test network. Broadcasts may fail, disappear, arrive incomplete, expose public wallet activity, be included onchain, or leave test ETH held while cleanup remains unresolved. Users remain responsible for their content, wallet approvals, and compliance with applicable law.

Mainnet broadcasting remains disabled on Ethereum and Gnosis. Patio is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Ethereum Foundation or Gnosis. It is built in support of open, permissionless infrastructure.
